Thank You for Your Donation

HI: UL provided a grant to Team 2136 to participate in the annual First Robotic’s Team competition. The competition brings high school youth from across the country to regional competitions. This promotes team work, academics, pride and achievement as each team enters their robot into the competition. Each team, with the help of volunteers, teachers and sponsors design and construct a robot to be entered in the competition. Yes, they must build a robot!

So why should you get involved?

Team 2136 is a group of young people considering the career options of a technical career. Your support makes the program possible by providing engineers who volunteer to support the group or by providing funding. I understand the goal for 2017 is $15,000 and we have $6,900 currently.

Oh yes, UL isn’t the only sponsor. We have had engineers from the Rehabilitation Institute, teachers from the Chicago Public Schools and other corporations who send engineers or donations. The facilities and program administration are provided by the Illinois Manufacturing Foundation (IMF). Ira Cohen, IMF, is the main organizer for the program. Ric Gudel is the Executive Director of IMF also involved in the program. Ric and team have been working for several decades providing job training of Illinois residents to enter into growth careers in technology.
